The quartet’s surf-rock onslaught hits like a B-movie monster (“daikaiju” loosely translates from its original Japanese to “giant monster”): Drums pound with the might of Anguirus and bass lines hit with the power of Gigan; boingy guitar riffs soar like Rodan and split in multiple directions like the hydra-headed King Ghidorah. The yin to Man or Astroman?’s yang, Daikaiju always hits at full impact characterized by muscular prog-metal riffs, percussive complexity and exotic reverb-drenched shredding. All you can do is hope to survive.
