SONG PREMIERE: Surviving the Golden Age premieres MR NASTI’s track “Stand Up Straight”

Surviving the Golden Age premieres MR NASTI’s new track “Stand Up Straight,” from his forthcoming sophomore full-length Truth Sound, out Sep. 23rd on Maximum Ames Records.

“Stand Up Straight” sounds like Vampire Weekend covering Peter Bjorn & John‘s “Young Folks” except without all the whistling. It really is a wonderful end of summer indie jam.

SONG PREMIERE: The Deli Nashville premieres Dohse’s new single “Fireworks & Lead”

The Deli Nashville previews Dohse’s new single “Fireworks & Lead,” from his forthcoming debut EP:

Dohse, aka Nathan James Dohse is in the thick of becoming a Nashville success story…”Fireworks and Lead,” is so solid that if it were stripped down, passed around and spun on a country station, it would probably be a hit, because good music can cross genres with no border issues.

VIDEO PREMIERE: Death + Taxes premieres Pollen – “Apartment”

Death + Taxes premieres “Apartment,” the debut video by Austin garage punk trio Pollen off their debut S/T EP, out today on cassette and digital formats!

[‘Apartment’ has] an absurdly catchy chorus bookended by gritty verses, and the video’s got the same perfect combination of creepy (dark lighting, claustrophobic and dizzying camera-work) and playful (dancing in your underwear, living the twenty-something bohemian life) that the track embodies…It’s the perfect track if you’ve found yourself lately a bit like me right now: lying in bed in your underwear in a new apartment, listening to music, waiting for summer to “start.”

EP PREMIERE: Pollen s/t debut EP full stream on Styrofoam Drone

Styrofoam Drone has the full stream of the debut s/t EP from Austin garage/punk trio Pollen, officially out on June 10th!

[The EP is] built around boy/girl vocals and a constant guitar shimmer. Crunchy guitars come backed by sunny vocal harmonies and throbbing bass in “Not a Test,” which starts the EP with an invigorating pop punch…“Short Selling” comes with a bouncy post-punk flare, sounding tight and wonky with plenty of shouting. It’s a different look at their sound compared to “Apartment,” which weaves angular guitars and bass into one stressful twang. The fluttering chorus is driven by Morgan’s breathy vocals, followed by rumbling bass lines and dusty guitars.

SONG PREMIERE: Gold Flake Paint premieres The River Monks’ single “Beasts”

Gold Flake Paint premieres “Beasts,” the first single from The River Monks’ forthcoming full-length Home Is The House, set for release on May 20th!

Oh, America. I miss you even though we’ve never really known each other. I miss you because you’ve always been there, casting spells and shadows over everything I love. I miss you because despite the sheer size and scale of you, it’s really the finer details that matter the most to me. The size of the skies. The wild prairies. The great industrial cities. Roads that run alongside rail tracks for miles and miles and miles. I’m yet to find them myself but I know they are there, just waiting.

I know they are there because bands like The River Monks make songs like “Beasts” – and I can hear it all. In the gorgeous harmonies, the shuffling percussion, that sun-kissed instrumentation that drifts alongside it all like the softest of breezes. It feeds in to everything; giving it a wide-eyed sincerity, a full, beating heart and a sense of optimism that’s all-but inescapable.

Listen to the exclusive premiere of “Beasts” at Gold Flake Paint!

Song Premiere: The Slowdown reveal new track “Right on TV” on Secret Note

Secret Note premieres the new song from The Slowdown, “Right on TV”, off their forthcoming sophomore full-length Digital Gold, out next month on Celebrity Narrators!

The Slowdown’s latest single, “Right on TV” takes the listener through a slow burn groove drawing influence from all over the classic and contemporary spectrum shepherded by the resonant vocals of singer Sam Hoskins. Serge Gainsbourg in his Jen Claude Vannier phase is written all over this track with a gritty, funky, spaced out experimental goodness. As if Bowie and Iggy were getting loaded on the town nightclubbing in a Daft Punk Studio 54.
